The MTFP Sessions

A set of monthly one hour zoom sessions aimed at assisting those tasked with developing medium term financial planning and the budget process for 2021/22. Adrian and Dan will take you through the latest developments in respect of the funding outlook and provide you with essential insight and analysis to support the annual budget setting process.
The hour will consist of a short presentation and then a question-and-answer session. You can either submit your questions in advance, or ask them in the “chat” section.

Adrian Jenkins - Pixel Financial Management
Adrian will be going into more depth about the Spending Review 2020 and its potential impact on the upcoming settlement. At the macro level, he will look at the major decisions for the Chancellor (how to balance borrowing, tax increases and spending cuts), and then, at the micro level, how this might affect next year’s settlement (business rates pooling, the baseline reset and the future of New Homes Bonus). He will also look at also take a first look at the COVID income compensation scheme and how the 3-year collection fund deficit spreading might work. Dan Bates - LG Improve
Dan will focus this first session on the Capital Strategy, providing further insight from the LGi benchmarking service which provides a view of capital account financial health. He will analyse trends on borrowing and capital investment and consider how Capital Strategies might be improved and better integrated into the MTFS framework. |
